We are delighted to announce that we have chosen Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance as our charity for 2023.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is a registered charity established to provide relief from sickness and injury for the people of Dorset and Somerset, by the provision of an air ambulance, with an air and road-delivered critical care capability. Tasked as part of the ‘999’ emergency process, they operate 19 hours a day (7.00 am – 2.00 am), providing a critical care service using their AgustaWestland 169 (AW169) helicopter and critical care car. They also provide an enhanced care service across Dorset and Somerset using their outreach cars.
From their airbase at Henstridge Airfield on the Dorset/Somerset border, they can be at any point in Dorset or Somerset in less than 20 minutes. More importantly, the helicopter can, if required, then take a patient to the nearest Major Trauma Centre in the South West within a further 20 minutes.
” At Bridge Health & Wellbeing, we have treated several pilots and paramedics from Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance over the past few years. We were shocked to discover that the air ambulance is not part of the NHS or government funded and relies on public support to fund its service. We are delighted to play our part in supporting this vital, life-saving local charity.”
