We are thrilled to have heard the news that Sol and his rowing partner Leah won GOLD for GB at the World Rowing Beach Sprints Championships in Italy
As British Rowing says, “Beach Sprints is rowing – but not as you know it. An exciting, fast-rowing format of the sport, Sprints combines running, racing, navigation and power on a field of play where anything can happen.” Beach Sprints has been added to the programme for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the 2026 Commonwealth Games, so it is an exciting time for the sport.
The 2024 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals took place in Italy in September. Sol and his partner Leah were up against Australia in the gold-medal race of the coastal under-19 mixed double sculls. The Australians were in the race to the end, but Sol hit the buzzer first after a strong row with Leah.
“You don’t want to get too optimistic, but deep down I knew we had it in us.”
Sol
In total, Great Britain won three golds and a silver medal across the senior, para and junior squads and finished second on the medal table, the best ever results for GB.
