Save the date! We are thrilled to be opening the gym doors in January for a talk on pelvic health by our physiotherapist, Mareen Frost.
The focus will be on women’s pelvic health, a very specialist area of physiotherapy. We are very lucky to have expert Mareen on site to answer your questions, bust some myths and offer advice and information.
The event is free to attend and will take place on Thursday 23rd January 17:30 – 18:30.
According to a survey by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), over 60% of UK women have at least one symptom of poor pelvic floor health.
- one in five (21%) of women surveyed experienced urinary incontinence
- a quarter (25%) experienced a frequent urge to wee
- despite symptoms being common, over half (55%) do not currently do or have never done pelvic floor exercises
- nearly a quarter (23%) did not know how to do them
Studies have shown that symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, such as pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence, can have a huge impact on quality of life, impacting family life, wellbeing and personal relationships.
At this informative event, we’ll be answering some key questions, including:
- Does my posture influence my pelvic floor?
- Is it normal to leak urine after giving birth?
- Are pelvic floor exercises only for women who give birth vaginally?
- What is the best position to sit on the toilet for bowel movement?
- How can I prevent leaking while coughing and sneezing?
- How can I lift heavier items without leaking?
Please book your space at the event at Reception as we are limited on numbers. Call 01202 473800 or email info@bridgehw.com.
If you can’t make the event but would still like some advice on pelvic health, contact Reception or book an appointment with Mareen online.
